Stimulus package 'won't help' Delta Hydraulics

DEVONPORT, TASMANIA - The head of a north-west Tasmanian manufacturing plant says the Federal Government's economic stimulus package will do nothing to save jobs at his business.
Delta Hydraulics in Devonport makes cylinders for the power generation, transport and mining and defence industries.
Managing Director John White says he has recently cut 23 jobs from his work force of 122, due to a reduction in international orders.
He says the Government's package is offering help to buy new equipment but that is of no use to him as he is not fully using his current equipment.
"Our local economy relies on people like ourselves to employ people and keep the whole thing turning, but I'm afraid that the stimulus package will have a very, very small effect on us," he said.
