Jason White overcomes engine drama in his Lamborghini to win Targa Tasmania from Tony Quinn

HOBART, TASMANIA - The moment that his Italian dream machine started to misfire at Strahan yesterday morning, Jason White did not know if he would even make it to Hobart on the final day of Targa Tasmania.
After dropping valuable time on the first two phases of a six-stage haul to the finish, White's crew found the problem, and with it fixed, it was then a white-knuckle ride all the way to victory.
The fire-breathing Lamborghini of Jason and his navigator, uncle John, proved too hot to handle for defending champion Tony Quinn, of Queensland, in his equally-potent Nissan GT-R, who had to settle for second.
After replacing the Lambo's $60,000 engine on Monday night after it exploded, White thought his goose was cooked when its replacement engine started stuttering on the opening stage out of Strahan.
"It was an electrical problem and we didn't know if it was going to be detrimental to the engine," Jason said.
